Don’t Say Good Luck

Don’t Say Good Luck follows Sophie, a high school student who gets the lead role in her school musical just as she learns that her mother’s cancer has returned. She now has to balance her excitement about the musical with what her family is going through.

Sunny Sandler leads the cast alongside Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, Stephanie Beatriz, Bebe Neuwirth, and Steve Buscemi.

I watched this one, and it was genuinely emotional for me. I really liked the story, but what stood out most was the acting. The performances made it easy to connect with the characters and feel what they were going through. It is one of those films where the emotions feel very close to the characters, and that’s what stayed with me.

My Brilliant Career

Set in Australia in 1900, My Brilliant Career follows Sybylla, a young woman who does not want the life society has planned for her.

Instead of settling down and marrying, she wants to become a writer and build a life of her own. The six-part Netflix series is based on Miles Franklin’s 1901 novel and stars Philippa Northeast, Christopher Chung, and Anna Chancellor.

Umthetho

Umthetho follows a public prosecutor who discovers that her brother, believed to have died 14 years ago, is actually alive and running a prison syndicate.

To protect her family, she is forced to become a double agent. The South African crime thriller stars Nqobile Nunu Khumalo, Tony Kgoroge, Sindi Dlathu, and Molefi Monaisa.

Reacher — Season 4

Jack Reacher is back for a fourth season, this time with a story based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow.

Alan Ritchson returns as Reacher as he gets caught up in a conspiracy in Philadelphia. New episodes are being released weekly.

Lanterns

The new DC series Lanterns premieres August 16 and follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre stars as John Stewart. The eight-episode series brings the Green Lantern story into the new DC Universe while also taking the shape of a murder mystery.

Mourinho
